The Lenovo Ideapad L340 ticks all the must-have boxes for an entry-level, low budget gaming laptop. As reviewed with Intel Core i5-9300H quad-core processor and a dedicated GeForce GTX 1050 3GB Graphics card, it pushes well above the standard 60fps mark in real-world benchmarks, translating in a smooth gaming experience for all.

Design

The IdeaPad L340 sits between Lenovo’s own 15-inch business ThinkPad X1 and the gaming-oriented Legion Y545 lineup, but is more of a mid-2019 debut that was a technology refresh of the heavier Legion lineup. The Lenovo IdeaPad L340 is mainly a design change, as it shares its core specifications, pricing of some models, and even port layout with the Y540.

Like its competition, Lenovo clads the IdeaPad L340 in a black chassis with stylish blue keyboard lighting and amazing build quality for the money. Priced further south than many of its rivals, though, and it gives reason to start appreciating the materials used here.

Display

The IdeaPad L340’s display is everything a value-oriented gaming laptop should be. In addition to its 1080p resolution that’s perfect for gameplay with the GeForce GTX 1050, but games are brought to life by its bright and colorful picture, acceptable viewing angles, and anti-glare surface.

The IPS panel has a 60Hz refresh rate. Outside of a few esports titles, the GTX 1050 isn’t likely to deliver over 60 frames per second (fps) in modern titles, but let’s be honest, the Xbox one delivers 60fps, and we don’t hear people moaning about that.

Performance

When it comes to performance, the L340 really performs beyond its price bracket, and compared to systems that have a similar spec with a higher price bracket, the L340 is a bang for buck must.

The Intel Core i5-9300H processor, paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB NVMe SSD make for smooth operation, now for those in the know, the 2.4GHz base clock can max at an impressive 4.1GHz in the Lenovo’s turbo mode.

Finally, for those who are thinking of entry level streaming, the 1050 will allow you to utilise the NVENC encoder in SLOBS & OBS. So rather than run a second, PC, you can simply attach a second monitor and capture card and light streaming is very doable.

Conclusion

Now, here at PC Support Midlands Ltd, we like to stand by the IT equipment we sell and the L340 is no exception. Now, not only do we have the Lenovo L340 for sale, we are pretty sure that we have the cheapest price in the UK for the laptop and they sell fast.
