So, as you all know, 2020 has been one hell of a year, but with a vaccine on the horizon, there are businesses that once more have hope about what 2021 can bring for their business.
Now, while 2021 has suddenly started to look a little brighter, their are some people waiting in the wings to take your money, make you some promises and, in truth they are going to do nothing more than leave you a little worse off financially.
Today, we are going to be looking at these SEO “experts” and reveal why they aren’t what you think they are.
If you are a business owner or work in marketing, you no doubt know the importance of SEO, well, unfortunately, nowadays there are also a large number of people who know this too, they just don’t really know what SEO is.
What They Do Know
Now, before we get into the details of what they are doing, there is one thing they know for sure, and they are relying on you not knowing this in the early stages of them taking your money. What is that one thing? Well, simply put, in the world of SEO, there are absolutely zero guarantees.
Why does this matter? Well, what this means is, these “experts” can deliver you nothing, and when you question it, they can literally say “nothing is guaranteed with SEO, ask around.”
How They Work
Ok, so, the first thing you should always remember in SEO is that nobody, not one single company can make you a delivery promise, if they do, they’re lying and trying to steal your money.
Taking this into account, it will now be obvious as to how these “experts” work. They promise you the earth (with a lot of terms and conditions) and deliver you pretty much nothing.
To end this section, I will say this, beware Facebook and Instagram sponsored posts. They will offer you the top spot on Google and a range of magical solutions. The truth is, this is far from what you will get, so please, beware.
Beware The Honest Idiot
Now, in this section, we are going to look beyond the conman with a purpose, and instead we are going to look at “the honest idiot.”
While a lot of you may think this term is harsh, it isn’t. Let me explain, these guys are generally one man bands or very small startup businesses that have one strength, generally speaking this is basic web design or something similar.
So, where does the SEO come in? Well, there are so many web designers out there nowadays, they all need do offer something to make them stand out..I am sure by now you can guess what they are offering.
Don’t get me wrong, these guys and girls don’t mean any harm, and in some ways, they are offering SEO services, they just don’t really understand what they are offering.
The problem with SEO is this, it’s full of jargon and it’s bloody complicated, not only is it complicated, every week, it gets more complicated.
Somebody once told me that it’s easier to explain the basics of quantum physics than it is to summarise how SEO works.
So, What Is The Solution
In truth, the solution is not simple. First of all, do your research, really get to know what strategy you need to use to help your business. Every company is different, remember this.
Next, reach out to people you can trust for help, generally the best advice will be the advice you don’t want to hear, but believe me, in the world of SEO, it will be the most useful.
Finally, don’t ignore SEO. While I could sit here for hours and try to explain SEO, it will only take me a couple of lines to explain how important it is, so here goes.
If you don’t appear in a Google search, then your company is as good as invisible.
