Just a quick one for everybody today (23/03/2021). If you are a Samsung Galaxy (any model) user, you may have been struggling for a couple of days and thinking your phone is on the fritz. Well, while we are waiting for Google to put out an official announcement, here’s a fix to get you up and running again.

So, like the title says, here’s a five second fix.

Head into the Play Store app and search for Android System WebView. You just need to check the details and make sure it’s dated recently or has the version number. 89.0.04389.105]

Click update, wait for it to complete, restart your phone and away you go. Everything should be back to normal,

If you can’t see the update, worry not, you can fix it by uninstalling the latest update to the Android System WebView. You can do that by taking the following steps on your device running One UI 3:

  1. Head to Settings » Apps
  2. Now tap on the sort button (with a downward arrow on it), enable the Show system apps, and then tap on OK.
  3. Now find Android System WebView and tap on it.
  4. Tap on the three dots on the top right corner of the screen.
  5. Now select Uninstall updates

If you are on a device with Android 9, you can do this:

  1. Navigate to Settings » Apps
  2. Tap on the three dots on the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Now tap on Show system apps.
  4. Now find Android System WebView and tap on it.
  5. Now select Uninstall updates.

Alternatively, you can also try to uninstall the update to Android System WebView directly from the Play Store. and repeat the whole thing again.

Hopefully this will get you up and running again in no time.
